Visa Payment Transaction Flow:
- The cardholder presents the merchant with a card for payment. The card data are read directly from the card by a point-of-sale (POS) device, key-entered into it by the merchant or provided by the cardholder on the merchant’s website or over the phone.
- The merchant transmits the transaction information to the acquirer.
- The acquirer sends a transaction authorization request to Visa.
- Visa sends the authorization request on to the issuer or, in certain circumstances, it may perform “stand-in processing” on behalf of the issuer and approve or decline the transaction.
- The issuer sends back to Visa an authorization response, either approving or rejecting the transaction.
- Visa sends the authorization response on to the acquirer.
- The acquirer routes the authorization response to the merchant.

JCB -
JCB (Japanese Credit Bureau), founded in 1961 in Japan, and continues to expand their business internationally. JCB has its cards issued in 20 different countries, 15 million cards are issued outside Japan. JCB cards can be used worldwide. For online merchants focussed on the Japanese ecommerce market it is a must have online payment option.
JCB cards can be used online similar to MasterCard and Visa credit or debit cards. JCB cardholders enter their card number, expiry date and CAV2 (=JCB's CVC security code). The card and balance are instantly checked and payment confirmation is received in seconds. Card-Not-Present fraud and chargebacks on JCB cards can be limited by using J-Secure, JCB's
3D-Secure product (similar to MasterCard SecureCode, Verified by Visa). JCB merchant fees are usually charged as a commission (percentage). Be aware: there are not as many JCB Payment Service Providers and Merchant Acquirers as for MasterCard and Visa.
Amex Card/American Express payment gateway -
American Express Company, also known as Amex. the AMEX has a larger representation of stocks and bonds issued by smaller companies than the NYSE. Some index options and interest rate options trading also occurs on the AMEX. The AMEX started as an alternative to the NYSE. It originated when brokers began meeting on the curb outside the NYSE in order to trade stocks that failed to meet the Big Board's stringent listing requirements, but the AMEX now has its own trading floor.
